Raising Tomorrow’s Leaders: Why Core Values Still Matter

Generational differences are a major cause of misunderstanding, especially between parents and children.
As a millennial, I often find myself perplexed by the behaviors and thought patterns of today’s youth. Gen Z’s unique way of expressing themselves, particularly online, leaves me wondering how societal norms have shifted so drastically. Reflecting on my teenage years, I can’t imagine doing half the things I see teenagers doing today.
One of the most striking differences is the absence of simple courtesies like greeting elders. When I was growing up, not greeting an adult was practically taboo—something that would earn a sharp reprimand, question your upbringing and immediately cast aspersions on your parents. Today, it seems like many teens don’t consider it a priority. However, I’ve come to realize that it’s not necessarily rudeness; it’s a shift in what’s considered essential.
I’ve noticed that teens raised with ‘old school’ values still uphold these courtesies. Back then, parents were held accountable for their children’s behavior, and societal standards ensured children respected their elders. However, as society evolves, we risk losing values that foster strong, respectful communities.
It’s essential to adapt to a changing world, but not at the cost of values that build empathy, respect, and responsibility. This realization drove me to create the Teenagers Formative Initiative, a program designed to address these challenges and nurture the foundational principles that are slowly being eroded.
The teens of today are the leaders of tomorrow. If they adopt and spread values rooted in respect, integrity, and compassion, imagine the kind of world we’ll live in. But if we allow moral decay to continue unchecked, the future could be bleak.
A few years ago, I had a vivid dream that became the catalyst for this program. I was on a high school campus, witnessing chaos: fights, bullying, and disrespect. Outraged, I called for an emergency assembly to address their behavior. Just as I began speaking, I woke up. That dream stayed with me, sparking a vision that became Teenagers Formative Academy.
At Teenagers Formative Academy, we believe in shaping the minds of young people through time-tested, Biblical values. Our courses guide teens to reflect on their behaviors and thought processes, equipping them with the tools to develop integrity, empathy, and purpose. Our goal is to raise a generation that embodies positive change—one teenager at a time.
The future of our world depends on the values we instill in our youth today. With the right guidance, we can nurture a generation that upholds respect, compassion, and responsibility. By enrolling in Teenagers Formative Academy, your teen will embark on a transformative journey to become a positive force in their community and beyond. Together, let’s raise leaders who will light the path for future generations.
